Melinda Maxwell is a passionate development practitioner dedicated to strengthening communities and supporting meaningful change across Southern Africa. With experience that spans youth mentorship, public policy, grassroots advocacy, and academic research, she brings both professional expertise and a deep personal commitment to social impact.

Melinda currently serves as a Postgraduate Sessional Lecturer at the University of the Witwatersrand, where she supports students, facilitates learning spaces, and contributes to building an inclusive academic environment. Her journey has taken her through roles at organisations such as the Southern Africa Trust, Ikamva Youth, UNIDO, and Wits University—experiences that have shaped her understanding of development from both community and institutional perspectives..
Over the past decade, Hakoola has been actively engaged in civil society, contributing to governance reforms, civic education, and leadership development initiatives.

She is completing her Master of Management in Public Policy at Wits and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Public and Development Management. Known for her empathy, attention to detail, and ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, Melinda is driven by a belief in equitable development and the power of well-designed programmes to transform lives.

Her work and service reflect her long-standing commitment to uplifting youth, strengthening civic participation, and advancing evidence-based solutions that support resilient and inclusive communities.
